A Garage Door with a Twist – Closing Off an Outdoor Kitchen

At GDA Dorset, we’re always delighted when customers come to us with unusual or creative ideas. After all, with over 30 years in the garage door industry, we’ve learned that no two installations are ever quite the same!

This recent project is a perfect example of our flexibility and problem-solving approach. Our customer wanted a practical, secure, and stylish way to close off their outdoor kitchen area — and we knew exactly how to help.

A Unique Use for a Roller Door

Instead of a traditional shutter or set of doors, we installed one of our insulated roller garage doors to neatly enclose the outdoor kitchen space. When open, it allows full use of the barbecue and worktops, creating a sociable cooking area ideal for entertaining. When closed, the door provides excellent protection from the elements and keeps everything secure and tidy.

The compact design of a roller door makes it an ideal solution for spaces where height and headroom are limited. Plus, the modern anthracite finish ties in beautifully with the outdoor structure, giving the whole area a clean, contemporary look.

Creative Solutions for Unusual Projects

We don’t just fit garage doors on garages — over the years, we’ve helped customers with everything from carports and workshops to storage units and outdoor kitchens like this one. Our experienced team is always happy to discuss unique ideas and tailor a solution that works perfectly for your space.

If you’ve got an unusual project in mind and want to see what’s possible, we’d love to hear from you.
